About the Colville Confederated Tribes

The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation is a Sovereign Nation and Federally-recognized American Indian Tribe. We trace our roots back to 12 nomadic, aboriginal tribes who followed the seasons over the lands of this region. The tribes, commonly known by English and French names, are: the Colville, the Nespelem, the San Poil, the Lake, the Palus, the Wenatchi (Wenatchee), the Chelan, the Entiat, the Methow, the southern Okanogan, the Moses Columbia and the Nez Perce of Chief Joseph’s Bands. Today, more than 9,365 descendants of those 12 aboriginal tribes are enrolled in the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. Established by Presidential Executive Order in 1872, the Colville Indian Reservation spans 1.4 million diverse and beautiful acres in North Central Washington. When choosing a name of cultural significance for our newest, landmark resort, the moniker 12 Tribes was selected to honor the proud people of our storied past, rather than a geographical location.
