The Observer I is responsible for reporting illegal, suspicious, or unusual activities and has a role in the process of protecting the Tribes’ gaming assets, reputation and standards. The Observer I writes comprehensive and accurately reports and logs, with the ability to conduct investigations. The Observer I maintains the integrity of the casino using clandestine surveillance operations.
Protect the assets of 12 Tribes Colville Casinos through monitoring, detecting, verifying and reporting suspicious acts and general operations of the property.
Research and review video evidence requested for investigations.
Install, maintain, and use electronic surveillance equipment.
Operate cameras in the monitor room.
Write comprehensive and accurate reports and documentation utilizing computer programs such as CIP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Learn and maintain working knowledge of all applicable gaming laws, and regulations as well as internal controls.
Assist gaming operations to maintain compliance with internal standards, regulations and gaming regulations.
Monitors all areas of the property at all times, identifying potential security and/or safety risks and reporting them to the appropriate individual or entity, for proper resolution.
Utilizes necessary equipment, to identify, record, document and report illegal, suspicious or unusual activities occurring on property.
Research and review disputes, locate video evidence requested for investigations by other departments and observe special surveillance assignments.
Operates phones, computers, DVD’s, and other surveillance equipment; input/retrieve data and take photographs.
Stay constantly aware in order to detect equipment malfunctions or errors such as missing information.
Completes daily reports.
Maintain professional communication at all times to enhance information sharing.
Meets the attendance guidelines of the job, adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
Maintains the highest level of discretion and confidentiality while performing assignment and duties.
Maintains video evidence library for investigative purposes.
Makes suggestions and recommendations, as appropriate, with regard to possible changes in the policies and procedures of other departments, with the protection of casino assets in mind.

High School diploma or GED; AND
12 months of on-the-job work experience in at least two of three major table games (Blackjack, Roulette, and Craps); AND
12 months protecting or oversight of any of the following areas: casino operations, casino cage, casino surveillance, casino security, or table games.
Cash handling experience in a casino or bank environment preferred.
Knowledge of state laws, gaming laws, all casino games, financial areas, Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS), with a basic understanding of the hospitality and gaming industry.
Knowledge of card cheats and basic strategy.
Demonstrated knowledge of all table games.
Knowledge and understanding of Class II and Class III games (CTGC approved and in operation).
Strong mathematical and accounting skills for computing table-game payoffs.
Ability of utilize proper grammar and spelling. Skill in drafting grammatically correct reports and other written documentation.
Ability and proficient skill in operating computers and Windows based programs.
Ability to utilize office equipment such as copier, fax machine, multi-line phone systems, etc.
Skill and ability in communicating verbally in a professional manner.
Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
Ability to work independently for long periods of time and maintain a high level of concentration and productivity.
Knowledge of methods of cheating games and other related criminal activities.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply appropriate gaming rules, regulations, policies and procedures as well as related tribal, federal and state compact requirements.
Must have excellent observation and investigative skills.
Skill in managing time and meeting deadlines.
Must successfully complete and pass Title 31, Banking Secrecy Act training as required by law and policies.
Must be able to work variable hours, shifts, and sites including days, nights, graveyard, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Must possess and maintain a valid Tribal Gaming License.
Ability to frequently sit for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to occasionally stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to frequently work near or around electricity.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work at heights of approximately 40 feet and climb ladders.
